I've believe buying a skipping rope is the best form of exercise for my needs. It's cheap to start things off and I have enough space to do the exercise.

My question is the type of skipping rope would be best for a novice like me..
I'm looking to get my heart pumping, get some speed, coordination and tone up a little (if possible).

You get the light ones I presume are for pros and look difficult to use, then there's heavier designed ropes that are easier for an amateur to get into and more for my needs?

Any advice?

I mean, you want a bit of weight to it, but as long as it's not staple spun polyprop, most rope would be fine. Bit of electrical flex?

Skipping is indeed a fantastic exercise and extremely economical to do too (as you touched on).

The one I bought about 2 years ago is strangely no longer available, but anything in the £15+ bracket should be reliable and robust.

Good luck!

I’ve got one of these. I’ve had it re wired once and I’ve used it pretty much every day for three years.
It’s brilliant.

One of these will do if you are just starting out. Just make sure you get the right size for your height. The one linked is 9ft.
