As a cyber numpty I need some help. I use MAC filtering to restrict WiFi access on my virgin hub3 to my sons. Being of different ages, is there a way to allot different times to different devices? Also disable a device when one of my sons is being a little s**t! :-)

I can block access at certain times but this affects all devices that you select.

Cheers all.

The Virgin Hub 3 is fairly basic in terms of user options. You could consider buying an ASUS or TP-Link router which will offer a much greater degree of control over your network.

Purchase an additional router that has child security options like circle.

Also what are you trying to restrict. Xbox and ipads have screen options.

Just an observation. Mac addresses are pretty easy to spoof if you’re halfway technical

Why's that an issue in this case? If you only allow access by MAC address then if you spoof a different one you're going to be denied access & if you spoof a permitted address with a diferent device you're going to be subject to the OPs access control. If the kids spoof the address of a parent's device then the router will see two devices with the same address.

Yeah Google Wifi has been brilliant. Aside from the access control/family wifi schedule stuff, you can also easily see what devices are using the bandwidth. Also makes a good mesh which I've used to replace my Sky Q wireless as well.
