Hi everyone

I know there's a couple of topics on here about Coronavirus grants and stuff but not sure if my situation is covered by them.

So, I need some advice.

I started a limited company in December and became the Director, I left my PAYE job at the end of Jan and now work for my company full time. The problem is I wasn't going to take any money as a wage until this month so do not have a single payslip from my company. I am not self-employed either with a self-assessment record behind me and I'm not registered for benefits.

Basically, how the hell do I get any help from the government and stop myself and my company from going under??? Technically I'm not covered by any of the schemes (that I know of) and new small businesses that have been running a few months are not being protected at all.

Please help!

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately you fall through all the gaps ! Universal credit may be available , you can’t blame the government, or everyone would have started a company in January and paid themselves £3k a month but have no record of it “honest”.

Yes I thought that would be the case. The thing is I'm employed by my company, so despite not being paid yet I'm still an employee. I know of several other people in my situation too, but their overheads are considerably more!

Sign up for universal credit, the woman I spoke to said is company directors are classed as self employed by them for this purpose. She was fairly clued up as her husband was in the same position.

We won’t get anything, wife’s earnings and being a home owner apparently. If you rent you’re in a better position for help.

So does that mean I won't get anything either as I'm a homeowner and my wife is still working from home on full pay?

I have no idea, you’ll need to establish your family earnings with the local dole office. It does need to be a joint application however if you’re currently doing nowt it doesn’t take much more than an online application and two phone calls to find out.

T400ble, nope no unit or rates as I'm a mobile service so work where required.

Thanks for all the help guys, I've emailed Government business support for info as I know of 3 other people in identical situations to me and I know there will be plenty more
