Working on rota vs.single person
Discussion
I'm half minded about this.
You have a team of 4 people performing a specific function. In our new CV-19 world the need for that function is reduced to the point where only one person is required. Is it better to have a single person do that job or put everyone on a rota to share the work out evenly so everyone works a different day.
Pay isn't the issue. It's the perceived increased risk and the need to be seen to be fair to everyone I'm not completely comfortable with.
Thoughts?

So you're going to pay one person who has to go & do all the work & the other three get paid the same to sit at home? I don't think the one who has to go in will think that's fair.
A week at time each sounds more reasonable. Give it 48 hours over the weekend for any contamination to die out.

I like my job anyway but I've absolutely looked forward to spending a day or two in work over the last few weeks. And the commute has been brilliantly peaceful.A week at time each sounds more reasonable. Give it 48 hours over the weekend for any contamination to die out.
The majority of our work can be done remotely but we need to conduct some testing in person.
We have an access controlled lab, myself and one other person have been going in when necessary to conduct the testing. We're both single, it made no sense to spread the risk to the rest of the team, especially people with families.

In our company some of the staff have been given 10 weeks off and the rest of us are taking it in turns on 3 weeks furlough at a time. It’s created a lot of animosity especially as the ones off for 10 weeks could be in doing the work the rest of us are. Only reason they got chosen was because of their job title!.
My company asked us if we wanted to be furloughed. I don’t particularly I’m bored of being at home, some were keen because of vulnerable members of the household or kids to homeschool. Those that said yes are (a slight oversimplification) doing 3 weeks on 3 weeks off. Those of us who are working are put into 2 teams to minimise cross contamination and working 3 of our normal 6 days with the other 3 on standby in case the others fall ill.
They’ve done it as fairly as possible and with consideration for everyone’s health.
