Just had a front spring snap on my E93 325i so looking at options and euro car parts are selling Sachs at about £70 a pair and then anschler at £12 for the pair!

Both prices are after the discount is applied.

£12 for a pair of springs, what could go wrong??

Bear in mind I'm selling the car...anyone ever heard of this brand?

I've ordered them as a click and collect anyway but intend to ring them tomorrow to make sure it's not a typo.

It’s a temp clearance price, the price will go back to “normal” once a certain number have been sold. Not a typo.

Not a bad brand of spring, seem to sell well and for the number sold barely any issues.

Just make sure you get the correct one ref, M-Sport, SE etc.

Nice one, thanks for that, I've got them reserved at that price for collection anyway. And they are the msport spec version.

Ps...I'm NHS staff and need to go in after next week so yes, it's kinda essential.

They are cheap for a reason.

I put a pair of rears on an Astra I used to have, they appear to be good quality, until fitted. For whatever reason they kept bashing against the handbrake cable on one side and after a year the paint was flaking off and rusting.

Sounds like either poor coiling or shot peening causing the spring to bend or bow in operation.

Theres cheap and there's cheap though, £6 each....it does sound a bit iffy I admit but when you google them they seem ok and the cheap price appears to be a kosher marketing practice and I can't resist a bargain.

The tricky thing now is getting the buggers fitted, my breakdown cover is roadside only, need to find a mobile mechanic...

I've used Anschler dampers for years and they've been very good. They're ECP's own budget brand but I'd use them over crap like KYB tbh.

Whereabouts are you? You might find a PHer at a loose end wants to help

Got it sorted for Thursday cheers. Getting the pair fitted for£80 which is more than fair.

I'm usually up for DIY car fixing stuff but this would mean buying spring compressors, then running the risk ending up in a&e when they let go smile

It’s a horrible job on the E90. In theory the strut comes easily out of the hub, in reality it doesn’t.

Fingers crossed for the lad doing it then! He's a 'proper' mechanic who's doing mobile work at the moment while everyone's on lockdown, so hopefully he knows what to expect.

Really? I've never had an issue with these. I use a spreader for the slot in the hub though. I put masking tape around the arch to protect the paint, undo the track rod end, push the suspension down with a bar and pull the strut out past the arch and then ease it out of the hub. I dread E46's as that sodding 18mm pinch bolt loves to snap off. mad

I think I’ve done more E46s so am quicker on them. I Plus Gas the 18mm bolt and use an impact gun. I’ve even got a special spreader tool for the E90.

I'll do service stuff, brakes, the odd cambelt and a couple of drop links on the past but I'm happy to pay someone for this job to be honest.

Anyway....

That's a hella discount....I hope the bloody things are the correct fitment!!

Well I can confirm these fit fine and the car drives spot on.

The 2 lads got it done on the drive in about 1.5hrs with no issues. Can't argue with an all in price of £92 for a pair of front springs really....I'll be bunging them a bit extra for the trouble.

They also do remaps and can get my car from 215 to 260bhp scratchchin and also maybe map out the NOx cat to improve mpg...sounds too good to be true but it's damn tempting.

I did say the car is for sale, and it is, but I did that thing where you give it a deep clean, wash and polish then think, actually, you're not that bad....so maybe I'll keep hold of it. You summer is here, even though we can't go anywhere it's still nice to go do your essential journies with the roof down.
