Le Mans in September Dusk vs Dawn

I was doing research for my spotters' guide (plug plug) and because of the change of months, there are some significant changes in the sunset and sunrise times:

On the 19th September the sun sets at 20:02 ( on the original June date: 21:59)
On the 20th September the sun rises at 07:43 (on the original June date 05:59)

On the original date, the night was precisely 8 hours long. In September it will be nearly 12 hours.

No wonder the ACO has put the requirement up for night time running during free practice.

It's going to be blooming cold (if it happens), that's for sure!

I am grateful for the earlier start/finish time (if it happens) though, a chance to get finished at a semi reasonable time.

I did see somewhere that the average temps in September are very similar to June, so hopefully we won't be needing to pack Arctic survival suits, mind you, there's been some cold June Le Mans.

i think the problem is going to be night time temps, rather than during the day, but we will cope, we always do

Average temps are a little lower, not much, little less sun, not much, and a little more rain, not much.

Very similar. As ever we must wait to see what the cat has to say on the matter. I assume the feline forecaster works for more than weekend a year?

Average temp
June: Day 23c/Night 12c
September: 22c/Night 11c

It'll be far too cold for the mankini, either way

Looks like the 9pm bbq may still work with a 2:30 start, but may not fit in with qualifying, especially, as by 11:15 on Wednesday, I'll be scared of the dark, or inebriated

Well the big spend for this year will i think be additional lighting for the campsite, with more time spent sitting around in the dark some more lighting will be needed and as always the electricity connections are not always reliable and frequently blow out in Tertre Rouge so some extra battery powered lanterns will be required.

The longer night also gives those of the light fingered persuasion to rummage through other peoples belongings under cover of darkness. Although saying that I'm sure one person in our group had tickets stolen from his car whilst parked by our gazebo while we sat a few feet away.
