Just before the lock down I switched my wheels from my winter set running Mich Power RS to my summer wheels which have a set of Supercorsa fitted

I'm talking purely road here and no heroic stuff - just genuine feedback from others

I have always typically ridden with sticky road tyres as longevity is not a concern however I do ride all year round and can do upto 10k in a year purely for 'fun'

I switched a couple years back to M7RR's after feedback from here as a great 'do it all' tyre. I agree to an extent but found some real pros and cons. The pros were switching to these from SC over winter was night a day...literally like someone had put glue on my wheels sticking to the wet, cold tarmac

However my 'con' so to speak was the sidewall movement and greasy feel I got as the weather picked up and I rode more enthusiastic. I dont think there is a tyre out there for bikes from reputable brands that wouldnt allow ground clearance issue lean angles - i dont question that bit. Its the grip when you start getting on the power and for me at least the 'feel' from the tyre

I switched to Power RS this winter just gone and for me at least these were noticeably a better tyre than the M7RR. Fast tip in, great grip in the wet and cold and quick warm up but as the weather picked up I found a couple times in the dry I would lean over without really 'feeling' the tyre like I did with a supercorsa/racetec etc (Please chip in if I'm going mad here). On the occasions I got keen on the throttle a couple times I had the back come loose and step out. If I had to run 1 all round tyre this would be it and as an all rounder its very good.

I fitted the summer tyres and instantly it was like riding a different bike. The SC feel soft, squidgy and almost sticky. Grip is amazing and I could' feel' it almost through the bars when riding on roundabouts lent over etc

Has anyone else found the same? Is it the Silica vs Carbon Black that makes them feel like that? Do I need to self admit myself to a mental institute as I'm over thinking and getting cabin fever!

Probably just going a bit batty laugh
I have to say though, I've tried 2 sets of Metzelers on my MT-10 and have decided they're not for me. I've had the tail sliding in the bone dry one too many times for my liking, they also feel very slow compared to a Michelin. I think I will give the Pilot Power 5 a go next. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the carbon black vs Silica tyres, I've only used Pirelli's once and they only lasted 900 miles laughlaughlaugh

Interesting post. I have ran Power RS+ on my bike (S1000R) and have absolutely nothing at all to criticise them for. Infact inremember replying to your post last year and recommending them to you as a good cold weather tyre.

As we are all aware, a bit of keen throttle application on any current 1000cc bike will break traction on whichever rubber is fitted, however I can say that I have ever really experienced any surprise slides on the road during my 15 to 20k miles on mine? The only time they bit me was coming out of Charlies at Cadwell Park, nothing mega scary but it did provoke an 'ooof ya f**ka' inside my helmet.

Interestingly I have just swapped my bike for another S1000R which has the OE fitment Bridgestone S21's. I only bought it in november and have kept it off the road until a week before the lockdown, but I have had similar slides to what you are experiencing on this set of tyres, I really do not like them at all and as soon as we come out of this lockdown I am keen to try Supercorsas out so will be fitting a set of those.

Weirdly I also had the same problems with the Michellin PR5's that I tried out one winter. In the cold and wet they were amazing, it would power wheelie off roundabouts will still slightly (very slightly) leant over and were really confidence inspiring. However once the roads dried up and warmed a little they were really unpredictable. I could ride around the same corner a dozen times under the same conditions and most of the time it would just grip and grip, but every so often it would unexpectedly slide, as much as I like the Power RS+ I dislike the PR5 in equal measures which is a bit weird.

I like rosso 2 for all round street riding, supercorsa are great when it’s warm and dry, but I’m a tight so want a bit of longevity, all OEM Bridgestone have been terrible on any bike I’ve had, generally I get rid of them within the first thousand miles.

I've only been on one run with you two, but I remember it well laugh

In fact on that run I did have an unexpected rear slide but was only running Road 5 so probably not ideal...

For the road the Rosso 3 or Diablo Rosso Corsa 2.

I didn’t like the original DRC rear profile. Love the profile on the Rosso 3.

Sounds about right. If this lockdown gets lifted before the weather turns rubbish I will head round. Much easier now I'm not working in Wales!

Got my fingers crossed to get a TD in somewhere too :/
