The Truth about Traveller Crime, Ch4
Discussion
program on CH4 at 9.00 tonight. Hopefully this will highlight some of the stuff these people get up to i.e. painting your Grans roof for £3K not to mention the thefts. The elderly in particular need to know what these people will do to take your money. One of the worst I heard was a couple knocked on an old guys door and offered to rebuild his chimney. He agreed on a price of £800... quite reasonable you might think. They wrapped his chimney in brick wallpaper FFS ! F#cking vermin ‘Do as you likeys’.

Not painting the thieving scum in a good light at all, thank god!
Not much hope if the police don’t have the balls or resources to deal with the f#ckers. The solution would be to get the Army on the site. One Not painting the thieving scum in a good light at all, thank god!
there in the red T shirt had a baseball bat while talking to the Police officer! I didn’t realise they were into sport.I was inclined to watch this. But I didn’t!
I might at some point, but I know I’ll feel physically sick at the sight, or sound of them!
It makes me sad that this land is blighted by such a ‘vibrant and traditional way of life’
If this had been a documentary about new laws and regulations, designed curtail their activities, I’d have swallowed a little bit of sick and watched it.
They aren’t a separate ethnic group at all. They are a criminal fraternity with a free hand to operate as they wish, almost unchallenged.
Should I watch it, or will it just p*ss me off?

Exactly this. I didn't watch it because I knew it would simply wind me up.I might at some point, but I know I’ll feel physically sick at the sight, or sound of them!

I had an idea it wasn't going to be singing their praises when I read some defensive comments from members of the traveling community who must have had a preview. I'll be interested to hear how they are going to explain away some of the stuff shown in this programme. Not painting the thieving scum in a good light at all, thank god!

The programme certainly didn’t hide away from the many consistent arguments around the subject.
They tried to quantify whether crime figures were unusually high around traveller sites but using figures from only one mile radius around sites. Not exactly helpful as most sites are usually more than a mile away from the mainstream population.
Also going on personal experience, a lot of minor crimes, more specifically anti-social behaviour, would just go unreported due to how normal it is to see it.
I found it interesting when Paddy mentioned how drugs among the young travellers had dramatically changed behaviour within their own community - would have been interesting to dig into that a bit more.
There also seemed to be a bit of a divide within their community, with a certain section being uncontrollable even within their own camps and bringing disrepute to this whole site...I was picturing travellers sitting in their vans moaning about the bloody travellers that had turned up next door and were causing havoc!
It didn’t annoy me as much as I thought but essentially nothing is likely to change for the better anytime soon. I am near one of the areas specifically mentioned in the programme - it’s a long-standing and sore subject around here for sure.

People just dislike them, due to the treatment they’ve received.
Their human slavery, destruction of property and lives, theft/robbery/deception, planning law rape goes largely unchecked.
The quantities of waste, filth and excrement they leave behind them is sub human.
Councils have to close off these illegal ‘rest stops’ due to bio hazards!
They do it because they can, but also because they actually hate everyone that’s not one of them.

Also blown up on Facebook. The perpetually offended on behalf of someone else, have gone nuts about how racist it is. I bet they'd crap their pants if they bumped into a real life traveller.
The official Traveller organisations have already got statements up in response.
I also found out they have their own acronym, GRT, just like a real minority.

Police advice is for the public to never approach them!
This is because of the risk of physical harm to you.
Is this advice ‘racist’ too?

FFS, some councilor(s) in Canterbury, really do need a kick up the arse, for encouraging "them" to stay. Even if it is temporary.
This is about half a mile up the road from me, but there are some really nice houses up that way too. I can see the Old Gate Inn (pub), will probably have a break in, as it's right by the park and ride, and is also closed.
Thankfully I'm renting, so will be out as soon as the s
t hits the fan; which it will.
Oh and there is construction work going on at the school. I expect s
t to go missing from the too.
Can councilor be held responsible, for their deluded decisions?
