HI All.I have a 2009 facelift E89 Z4, with a broken Roof. I suspect the roof motor has failed.
Symptoms. Roof is now fully open, if I push the close switch the windows go down, then nothing.
Is there a way of getting the roof up manually? I see the previous model E85 had a red level in the boot to release the hydraulics, but its not there on this model.
An help gratefully received. If I can get the roof up, al least I can use it.

I believe it’s not uncommon issue, either failure of hydraulics or water ingress ruins motor. A fair bit on the www about failure modes and repair.

There are a number of micro switches and hall sensors, as well as two salmon coloured relays in the boot (next to the battery) that can go bad.

There is no manual override.

Maybe try to disconnect the battery first, and if this does not help, then it is time to check/replace each of the sensors and/or bite the bullet and have a garage look at it.
