Has anybody seen the Gatso on the A1 southboud through the 50 limit in Blunham (the one that's partially hidden by the metalwork of the footbridge). There's a blue bag on it and ash lying around so I suspect someone has vandalised the thing.

This day and age there should be no 50mph stretches of the A1 left considering the vast sums of dosh extracted off the motorist, let alone cameras.

That should cost the greedy burgers a few bob. Never mind.

The first camera you come to on the A1 southbound at what I think of as 'Eckerslyke' (near Retford) has been in a scorched and blackened state for several months now, until it has been restored quite recently. That area is also subject to a 50 mph limit.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Tsssk, tssssk, such wanton vandalsim. Dreadful.
Still, never mind. I doubt the Police will do a lot, after all, tackling criminal damage is not a government priority!

To be fair (not to the cameras) with regard to the speed limits, there are several sections that are rightly 50mph, as there are many drivers who don't seem to mind topping a blind crest at 80mph.

If they asked we would have donated the petrol and tyre to their cause

The ironic thing being that if these speed cameras were installed in busy areas where inappropriate speed is potentially a hazard then they wouldn't be so easy to vandalise (and people would be less inclined to see them as an unjust tax collecting device!). However the SCPs insist on placing cameras on a deserted stretch of road in the arse end of nowhere and then wonder why they get destroyed!

And don't forget the government made money out of tax on the fuel and VAT on the tyre.

They even charge a 'disposal' tax on the tyres.
