Whilst adhering to the current lock-down, how long would you have to drive a car with a relatively new battery (appx 1yr) on an essential journey arranged to deliver supplies/prescription/medication to an elderly relative - to ensure that you are charging your battery & it doesn't go flat, having been left parked up for weeks - would a short run to bring temperature up suffice, as I thought a shorter run could instead deplete the charge?

My old M3 had a 3 week holiday this winter and it’s first drive afterwards was 25 mile round trip , it was a bit grumbly and took longer to warm up , but that was it. I think 7- 10 days of non use followed and after that time it was normal.

Why not take the “long way around “on your essential journeys. I’m sure in the unlikely event you were pulled , only the most overzealous coppers would take issue with someone who cares for the vulnerable giving their car a run out for its own good.

I bought a battery booster for my F15 X5, I had a warning on thr iDrive saying the battery is very discharged after sitting around for 3 weeks. Only issue is, I can't find the positive connector in the engine bay, or the negative connector (I am aware the battery is in the boot floor) to boost the battery. Took it for a run, 60 or so miles round trip.

Any diagrams to show where the charging points are for the 2016 X5 3.0d? confused

it should have a red cap on the +ve jump start pole and you can use a chassis nut for the negative clip? looks as though it may be back right when stood in front?

have a look at google images or in my M6 i found it in the idrive online manual.
