Nope but I had an update last night. Has it done something to yours

I have just done a system restore and still it says "virus protection unknown" and I'm unable to do a scan?

Try the usual response

Download malewarebytes see if it will run, may give an indication of what the problem is

In security what does it say your virus protection is. May be worth a search for that to see if legitimate
