Yet another 6 monthly update, and yet again I can't tell any difference. Is it like a "Where's Wally?" thing - i.e. it's impossible to spot where the changes are ?

They only do it so they can re-enable all the intrusive spyware they have crammed into windows 10...

It always seems like a massive let down now. As as old gimmer starting with DOS on PCs and seeing every version of Windows as a massive step forward, including W10, now these 6 monthly updates are always an anti-climax.

I suppose it's like moby dog and bones or the next release of Android; a bit better but for the last few years it's not been that big a change.

its continuous improvement rather than waiting years for service packs to roll up all the patches and not really improve much.

Its a great os there isnt much need to revolutionise it

Yes, I think you are right there. Windows 10 is certainly very good.

I think users have to get out of the mindset of big bang updates. Windows is basically being delivered as a service now, all updates are gradual and incremental.

Weird really - the May update isn't out yet so you can only get it by switching to Windows Insider builds. Not sure why OP is seemingly miffed at the lack of tangible updates, given they know enough about computers to turn insider builds on. What did you think it was going to do - give you a reacharound? hehe

You are not wrong. I was just looking for some excitement in my life and yet again I was sorely disappointed ! laugh

It's getting there, but it's still nowhere near great.

I had a Windows 10 update a few weeks ago. It managed to stop my printer queue from working. Did a restore, fixed. It then updated again, the same thing. Can't restore now. Doing a Google search, it seems as if Microsoft has made one great big Windows 10 update fkup. Issued two/three fixes, which buggered up computers even more. So I'm sitting here not able to print anything.

This. I'm typing here on a MacBook Pro that I've had for over seven years. I've never had to rebuild it, never had a problem, no crashes, no unpredictable updates. But then, I'm cautious with every new release of the OS - I always wait for the '.1' version before thinking about upgrading.

My wife's iMac is slightly younger at six years, and is the same - never a problem in that time.

Then we have my work laptop - Lenovo and running Win 10. It's 15 months old, has been re-imaged twice since I had it (so three builds in total), and its latest party piece is that Wifi randomly stops working. It will show 'connected' and has an IP address, but refuses to connect to anything. Works fine on a wired network. I feel another Windows re-install coming on, as I've done everything possible short of a full re-install to try to fix it.

I've got a couple of iMacs (2015 5K and 2019 4K), and both dual-boot MacOS Catalina and W10. Haven't had problems with either OS (although I think I shouldn't have bothered upgrading to Catalina and should have stuck with Mojave - nothing major, just a few new tweaks that I don't get on with).

Sorry, not really got anything negative to add.

How have I missed that you can rename and save Virtual Desktop environments in that update? That's the one thing I've been begging for since I started using them. Such a pain in the arse when Windows reboots itself and you have to move everything back to the right Desktop afterwards! Think we run an update behind at work, so I guess this is coming in the Autumn. Awesome.
