The current situation means I've been posting pics and videos even more than usual

This is from a few years ago when I was following a 928 buddy

However after a lap patiently following him my frustration resulted in a pretty fair lap immediately afterwards

Here's the video starting at the B of BTG shortly before passing my buddy

It's still only just sub 9 mins, which is pretty tame, but it looks OK

The video is supposed to start at 13:10, the link has t=790, but when embedded it's starting from the beginning

Nice.
What sort of speeds were you getting up to on the straights?

In my 928 Döttinger Höhe is good for over 150 with a decent exit from Galgenkopf

But the Cerb will reach 175, the difference is that the Cerb has almost twice the power/weight

The bend after the gantry looks pretty innocuous, unless you're doing 150+

My wife just said F@@king Hell.

& there I was trying to persuade her that a track day after lock down was a good idea...

It still is a good idea

The Ring is a bit of a crap shoot on popular TF days

Carfreitag is a demolition derby

But a track day is a sublime experience, the risks are minimised, and the chance to do a clear lap is maximised, as you saw in the video

Sure, it can be a total wipe out if the weather turns

Here's a video to show you what that means https://youtu.be/E4knCJrfdaM

But you have to do some cost averaging to recognise the true value of a track day

My recommendation is a DN event, I've been doing event organised by Darren for ten years

That enabled me to invite my parents to the Ring, after my mum had bullied me for years to invite her

Here she is, grinning like a loon a few years ago, around her 80th birthday

And my mum getting out of my mates Skyline after a lap, he said it was the most nervous he has ever been

I've only done Zolder with https://www.tvrcarclub.nl/

I really hope we can meet up again one day

It is a superb event which I totally recommend

After Zolder somehow find myself at The Ring, via Spa

And sometimes I jump out of planes as well

Another good vid.
I was wondering about the crack in your windscreen until I realised it was actually the crack in my phone!!

For me, it would have to be a track day. I get scared hearing about the traffic and carnage at the public days.

I used to skydive as well, but it was a long long time ago.

The reason I skydive is because my mum did a tandem for her 60th

The idea that I had been outdone by my mum simply did not compute

So I saved some money and did my AFF a few years later

I'm still in awe of my parents

The reason I sky dived was because 25 years ago I was in a pub with a mate and he said he fancied jumping out a plane and did I want to. Obviously, after a few beers, and without thinking, I said yet. Next thing I knew he had booked us on a course to do a static line jump (solo). I loved it and did it as often as I could (obviously moving on from static line fairly quickly) for the next few years.
I only stopped when a change of job and a house move meant a drastic loss of spare time.

Great video Paul, reminds me I need to get back to spa when this ste is over.

Fancy making a bit of a Cerbera event out of it I am sure a few others I know would join?

I love Spa as a circuit, driven it 4 times now and prefer it to the ring. First time was a long weekend doing the ring for a day then off to Spa.

I had a copy of Marussia's rFactor race sim then and spent 3 months learning the circuits before going, still didn't feel comfy on the ring, especially as the regulars were just flying. I didn't have the commitment in my car, was there to just drive it to see what it was about, so I have full admiration for those that do.

Blummin' 'Eck Paul, the Ring vid is phenomenal, You really know that circuit now thumbup

I used to feel good if I could remember up to the 90 Deg right (where you can exit left for the new circuit).

Sounds like a brill' idea Gruff. Count me in if you do it (If I ever get my Baby goin' again rofl )

Very tidy lap that. Makes me a bit sad right now to wonder when I will be back!...was there last year, but doubt if I will make it over the pond this year. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, much as I love driving the Cerb at the Ring, it's no match for a GT3 RS like yours - Beautiful!

Spa- Oh yes, would love to. Can't guarantee to be quick, but I have cameras front and rear on the car
UKKid - what camera(s) do you use?

I've got a Kowloon K1s system that was designed for motorbikes but it's small and neat with a master recording unit and two tiny cameras, full GPS etc.
I don't think it's available anymore.
I've also used/still got a couple of those cheap chinese gopro knockoffs that are about £20-30 that seem to work well.

Only Issue I get is some glare off the windscreen sometimes

I would love to be able to afford a multi camera setup with overlays, I'm sure I'd learn from it if I could

Instead I have been using a GoPro 2 until last year when I managed to lose it somehow, now I have a GoPro 4 which only cost £100 used which I really like

I also use the disposable clones for mounting outside the car (although you rarely get away with that on track)

However the clones are not as reliable, I lost almost everything from a trip with my gf riding between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai last year, not something we are likely to be able to repeat any time soon
