Covid 111 point checks and Porsche approved warranty
Discussion
My Cayman S will be 3 years old in 2 weeks time. Prior to Covid, I booked a 111 point check in order to purchase a Porsche approved warranty. My dealership has not been in touch with me about this and I am awaiting a reply to an email. I presume that the dealership will be closed for normal business for at least the next 3 weeks.
Has anyone experienced this problem? What was the outcome?
My concerns include potential warranty faults and roadside assistance no longer being covered. Also, I understand that the OPC can charge a higher fee for the warranty if acceptance is delayed.

I think there’s a 45 day extension for warranty renewal. I think if you e-mail your OPC they will reply...I got in contact with mine as I had two cars booked in last week for the two yearly service,,in the case of service schedule they have extended by up to a year or 10k miles without it impacting warranty. I had to contact them rather than the other way round....

Have you had that officially in writing? My dealer, Porsche Portsmouth, didn't seem to have a clue what would happen to warranties....just that they 'expected Porsche to be flexible'.....I've ended up taking my 2yr old car off the road (due its first service tomorrow) just to be safe.Bobtherallyfan said:

I phoned up Porsche UK. They said the dealer will honour the warranty as you have it pre booked in (I have that now in writing from my dealer)
HOWEVER, the breakdown cover is not covered by this extension. I was able to renew that and pay for it over the phone.

I have received a written reply from my OPC and it concurs with FrankCayman above.
Many thanks for your helpful replies.
My original 3 year Porsche warranty will be extended without charge, until my 111 point check can be undertaken.
Roadside Assistance can be renewed independently over the telephone, 0800 777123.
The fee for the Porsche Approved Warranty, will remain the lower fee, in spite of the delay.

Call from my OPC this morning, they are opening for service work in May. Have reconfigured workshop/working practices to maintains safety for employees etc They’re currently booking people in who have had bookings cancelled. Think once that is don’t they will open up for more bookings.
Mine are booked in for the end of May....not sure that my journeys will conform to essential travel under current definitions but hopefully in a month’s time things will be different.
