Sticking it down the inside of Lord Schumi at Brazil 2001, a run of poles in 2002, title challenge in 2003 (thanks Bridgestone), as fast as Kimi in 2005 once he had the car how he liked.

NASCAR winner, Indy champion, Indy 500 winner x2 and Monaco GP winner, ROC champion, Daytona 24hr winner.

What a man. The best all rounder of this generation?

And tennis.

Sad that he didn’t get a chance against Alonso in 2007

I'm no expert on drivers etc but am an F1 fan, I really enjoyed Montoya's style and was very disappointed when he left F1.

I love Montoya as a driver. Awesomely quick in anything he’s driven. When he was driving in F1, you always new ‘something’ would happen, in the same way you did with Mansell. He really put Schumacher in his place on many occasions - round the outside going into the Bus Stop chicane at Spa for example. Without question he was more than quick enough to win an F1 championship, but you could also see him throwing it all away in the last race fighting for 3rd when he only needed to finish 10th. Always good value in interviews as well. And then of course, there is his “you broke my fking head man” moment! Awesome driver.

I think he's one of the best drivers to never win a world championship. He should've done when he was at Williams, but I think his heart wasn't in it when he went to McLaren.

Also don't forget his moment in Spa when he was told by his engineer that there was a deer on the track, and he replied "Oh Deer!". "Yes Pablo there is a deer on the track".

Worth looking up some of the pit to car radio moments when he was at Williams.

A great talent, not always a nice person though.

All that but the best of his generation? I wouldn’t go that far.

Best all rounder/multi discipline driver of his generation, not the best of his generation.

Who would you go for?

Probably better than having balls as big as your belly!

So many mistakes- 2003 alone he had spins in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, then made a mess of Indianapolis with Rubens.
But then he also stuck it around the outside of Michael at Nurburgring- my favourite move of his which led to Ross Brawn throwing his toys out the pram for the first and only time I’ve ever seen, calling him ‘unclassy’.

I also liked how his babe of a misses tries and fails to calm him down after his fking head was broken.

I was at a Silverstone F1 test and Montoya was driving a McLaren. He entered the pits (old) behind another driver who slowed down. Instead of patiently waiting behind the car in front, Montoya took to the grass for the overtake! I looked around me and nobody else was watching.

I have since married a Colombian. My knowledge of the country was based on one overweight., talented driver!

I did the same with an Italian girl I went out with for a while. She was as useless as Jarno Trulli.

Agreed. He and Ralf Schumacher used to often frequent a riverside restaurant that I lived next to back in their Williams days. He was a very unpleasant chap whenever I saw him there.
