Discussion
So after randomly stumbling across a thread for a vehicle I now own I thought I would start my own thread to document the changes ahead. It turns out the 2 previous owners to me are members on here also.
This is actually my 2nd Clio engined Kangoo, the first was bought as a project I just never got the chance to get near so was sold on. I had also been toying with selling this one but my mind has changed and its staying put. I have now owned this one around 6 months and haven't done much with it but big plans ahead.
Currently the van is running full Clio 172 running gear, suspension, brakes, seats etc and what good fun it is.
Over the winter I've done a few wee jobs to it. Reloacted battery to the rear, overhauled rear brakes, new tyres......just maintenance so far really.
Now on to the plans for the following months:
- engine to be dropped out and refreshed, new belts, clutch etc
- low boost turbo conversion to be fitted, full kit sat here waiting
- PMS shifter, also waiting
- bucket seat to go in
- possibly change the rear brakes to disc setup
Undecided what to do with the bodywork. It has a few dents etc on the rear quarter and front arches have been caught by the wheels but at the same time it adds to the sleeper effect.
I shall keep this thread updated as I tick jobs off the list.

I agree, keep that bodywork sleeper style: Reminds me of the Royal Nail of years gone by!

Keep the bodywork as is it. And keep the thread updated with the details of the turbo kit!

Always loved the Royal Nail since it was built, looks a right laugh Clip for those not familiar with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGT08670Xds
I love it!
Is the Kangoo based on the Clio or has it been a bit more of a job to swap over the running gear?
I think the bodywork is ideal for the sleeper look. You could always add some more props if you wanted to, but it doesn't need them. A roof rack with some drain rods on it, maybe make it look like some paint spilled over in the back and ran down over the bumper, or just repair the rust with mismatched paint?

I didn't do the conversion but the mechanicals are a straight swap, mounts etc all the same so engine, box, subframe, suspension, brakes etc go straight on. It's the wiring that's the hard part with them, splicing the Clio and Kangoo looms to get everything working. Is the Kangoo based on the Clio or has it been a bit more of a job to swap over the running gear?

I think the easiest way to wire it is to use the clio loom and clocks and modify the rear lights for use with the clio loom.
Correct. Wiring wise is full Clio engine loom, Ecu etc and lighting looms for the rear need spliced. Don't think it would be overly difficult for someone with time and patience. I had looked into converting one myself before buying.I’m pretty sure the famous PPBB did this conversion for a bit of a laugh? There’s a thread on it somewhere here? Or did I dream that?
OP: if my memory is correct then the conversion will be ace. PPBB runs a company recommissioning old F1 cars and building a mental 996 ‘parts delivery’ car among other stuff

That's his thread I stumbled across. Think he bought the van already converted and tidied bits upOP: if my memory is correct then the conversion will be ace. PPBB runs a company recommissioning old F1 cars and building a mental 996 ‘parts delivery’ car among other stuff
