Mystery connector - 997.2 C4S
Discussion
Very much does not look like any type of light connector + I doubt Porsche would use a different car's loom & just leave a plug hanging
To me that looks like a plug for interfacing with some sort of module / electronics box, the ones I have seen like that are aftermarket Parot bluetooth kits (although a mystery why it would be in the front compartment), a steering remote interface for an aftermarket audio install, or at a push maybe a tracker although it would likely be better hidden than that. Where is it exactly? If that is the bulkhead that goes through to the passenger compartment then it could be any of those

It could be for some sort of Bluetooth device as the car is not fitted with a universal audio interface.
It's part of a wiring harness that comes through the left-hand side of the bulkhead. It's really easy to get to via the plastic door used to access the first aid kit - it sits just to the left of where the first aid kit is positioned.

How own does its loom look, is it the exact same cloth as the rest of the loom it is part of
If it is integrated in the original loom it will most likely be oem
I’m surprised that Porsche would have any modules like that not integrated into the head unit
That being said on gen 1 9x7 the phone module is under the drivers seat

I removed the plastic covers and had another look. The wire attached the connector doesn't run through the bulkhead it actually runs the other way to a module further on the left of the car. The module is pictured here.

it looks like it's part of the original loom. It's a LHD car if that makes any difference.

Which country spec is the car? EU?it looks like it's part of the original loom. It's a LHD car if that makes any difference.

Page 454 shows every module in the 997.2
I just google image searched every one of them and the only one that has a socket with even the same number of pis is the immobiliser
I was hopeful for the garage door opener or even the cabriolet control module but no luck have a look yourself

That is the 'VTS prep wiring'. All 9x7 cars from 2004 had the pre-wiring in the UK - consisting wiring for powering the unit and and Driver Card Recognition Antenna. If the option to purchase the VTS System was taken at/after delivery then the dealer installed the ECU, Antennas (GSM; GPS) and the required covers for security. PM me your VIN and I can check if the option code '674' is on the VIN.
VTS Prep means that you have the option to retrofit the Vehicle Tracking System if you want.

Fantastic, mystery solved. Thanks.
I know the car has a movement sensor installed (is this an option?) so perhaps the first owner in Germany was security conscious and perhaps had a VTS installed. The installation of trackers in Finland was not common practice so I'm guessing the Finn who owned the car before me did not have a tracker.
