I have a 2015 DB9 with around 13k miles.
I recently tried to build the oil pressure in the engine before starting after a period of storage. I followed the method in the handbook I.e. press accelerator to the floor, crank engine until oil light goes out...
When I tried this the oil light would not go out, even after 10- 15 seconds of cranking, I checked oil level and there was plenty of oil in engine.
I then started the engine, the oil light went out straight away so I know the oil pressure light works.
I then tried the post storage pressure build again, same process and this time the oil light went out after about 3 seconds.
Any ideas why it didn’t work first time?
Hope someone can help.

After a long period in Winter storage (a couple of months for me), I normally have to turn the engine over for around 30 seconds before the oil light goes off. It was probably much shorter the second time as the oil will have circulated. I'd advise trying again and waiting for a little longer.

Perhaps it is different with a Vantage, but I turned the engine over last week and the oil pressure light went out surprisingly quickly. Had expected longer.

During winter storage, I do this about every two months, because I am not keen on starting the engine, unless I am going to drive about 20 miles to make everything hot.

Winter storage began last November. Am now wondering how long it will continue this time.

After months of no use , all the oil is in the sump, pump empty. You will always get a full oil reading, just need to give the pump time to do its stuff. Cold oil in the sump will take time to circulate.

10-15 seconds is not long enough on a v12 that’s been sitting for a month. You should have cranked for another 10 seconds; the light would have gone out.

Completely different. V8 4.3 or 4.7 has a damp sump (sort of dry, but not quite), V12 (apart from racing engines and heavily modified road cars) have a standard wet sump.
