Decent reasonably priced gaming headset?
Discussion
Thought this would be better than the gadgets forum.
Been told by work to get a headset for Skype calls since there’s too much background noise (typing etc) when just talking directly to the laptop.
So I see this as an opportunity to get a gaming headset to compliment my new gaming pc
which can also be used for work...
Any recommendations? Probably not something too ridiculous looking just in case I do get forced to have a video call rather than audio.

We use MS Teams but the principle is the same. Do you want in ear, on ear, Bluetooth, wired etc? Price bracket?
We've just been through a process of testing loads of headsets at varying prices for different budgets internally for rolling out Teams so we know they're all good and work seamlessly. I ended up picking these as the noise cancelling is good and they filter out a lot of background noise. I used wireless apple earbuds before and when we tested them, the clarity was so much better.
I've not tried them gaming but I have some Turtle Beach Xbox ones that use MS proprietory wireless audio as opposed to Bluetooth, but then again, these Jabras are designed for voip, as opposed to audio, so they wont give you as good a response as a gaming headset probably, but then again.....do you want these for Discord chat gaming or just game audio?

Thanks, the ones you linked are far too expensive, will need to be a reasonable amount so that I can claim the expense back from work!
I should have specified I am looking for an on/over ear headset that is wired and probably around the £50 mark?
I know I won’t get anything amazing at that price point but something that is good enough for Skype calls and primarily in game sound.

I use one of these:

Work shouldn’t be able to complain at £32, and it’s good enough.

Voice conferences and gaming have very different requirements so I wouldn't try to get something that's good for both.
Personally I hate being on video calls with headphones, it just looks daft. I have one of these which works perfectly https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jabra-Conference-Speakerp... but you can get cheaper versions I'm sure.
Gaming headsets...yeah you can spend as much as you like. It's a bit like weddings, as soon as you attach the word "gaming" to a peripheral it doubles the price. I'd go for bottom end of a decent brand e.g. SteelSeries rather than an expensive no-name.

Been thinking I need a headset too. This may be useful: https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/best-gaming-headset/
