It seems alcohol and anger were contributing factors to the death.

Seems a sensible outcome. For once I agree with the sentencing.
Albeit I'd likely have a quite different view if it was the vehicle owner who died after being punched by the instigator.
Perhaps one of the forums legal beagles could shed light on whether being the instigator impacts the sentencing outcomes in cases such as this?
