I think i have read on this section about PayPal keeping the transaction fee in the case of a refund been given? I did try a search but could not find it.

Anyway had someone today order via eBay 2 of the same item by mistake and requested a cancellation, this was 2 separate orders 1 min apart not ordered Qty2 so possible a glitch in the system.

Anyway thought i would call up eBay customer services to tell them if i go ahead with cancelling i would take a hit from PayPal for the fees, he was adamant that i would not get charged.

Cancelled the sale as per eBay’s instructions you guessed down just over £10 in fees from PayPal, (as a side note I get the fees PayPal charge that is not to say I agree with it)
Called back up to speak to a different rep who said that I was right and the other rep was wrong, I explained that I am £10 down through no fault of my own, he said that I had the option not to cancel the order and ship it and then he could open a case against us which I should win ! OR that I did not have to accept to cancel the order, neither is correct.

I suppose I am ranting, but serving to bring this to the attention of others who sell on EBay about the PayPal fees not being re-funded, or even if you accept PayPal via your website.

Thank god our online sales are mostly on our own website where we can control refunds in relation to customers wanting to return items and cover it with a “restocking fee” but in the case of EBay the odds have always been stacked against the seller.
Wishing you all a good weekend.

I think the trick is to refund all but 1 penny (so a partial refund) to get your fees back. Not done it in years but its what I used to do as partial gets fee back, full for some reason doesnt.

Paypal have changed their terms and conditions in the last month or so to say that they will no longer refund fees - they have been spamming their customers with emails telling them wink

I'm neutral but it occurs to me that maybe your customers dislike a 'restocking fee' as much as you dislike Paypal keeping their fee...
