So youve got 7/8 grand in your pocket to buy a little bit of your yoof back for the summer, maybe a ragtop, maybe not, but deffo a retro motor to just ponce around in....whats it going to be.

Me. I've had a cpl of GT6's, MGBGT and MGB, Heralds and Chimaeras. BUT never thought about ........a TR7...or a MK 1 MR2.....

My wallet is itchy.....

To be quite honest, the late 70s-early 80s were a generally poor time for enthusiasts cars IMHO, and doubly so for small roadsters as they were well out of fashion. But I guess that just makes the challenge more interesting.

As I was a teenager in the late 80’s I’d probably go for a Mk1 Golf Gti Cabriolet or an XR3i Cabriolet at that money. Both a bit poncey but you did mention that in your original post!

I had a mk 2 with a big scoopy spoiler jobby in the front, then an orange mk 3. Buggered if I could get in or out of one now...

Mine was a mk 2 in Saffron with the improved rear suspension that didn't fold up when you went round a corner above 20 mph

I would struggle as you now to get in and out.
