Hi All,

Drove over a kerb which was about 5 inches high the other day, and something from under my car has come loose. It makes a bad noise when driving.

Could someone kindly advise?

Car’s upside down.

That aside, hanger to body is disconnected, by the look of things.

The exhaust hanger to body fixing has become detached. The loop on the body fixing end makes it look as if it is bolt mounted so should not be too much of a problem. DIY-able, if you can get under, and if there is no further damage at upper mount end.

My E36 was driven around for over half it’s (150k) life with one hanger less. Never was repaired, but ‘they don’t make ‘em like they used to’.

Cheers guys, I think I'll wait out until garages re-open. Will have to drive and live with the rattle

Spray some WD40 or Fairly Liquid on the exhaust pin and pull the rubber mount and detached hanger off. Then it won't rattle and it won't get caught on anything and avoid potential damage.

It should be easy to bolt back on. But, yes, remove the parts in case you lose them.

Depends if the the bolt's ripped the threads out or not.
