Astra 1.7 cdti smokey
Discussion
I have a 2010 astra J 1.7 diesel and i've got an annoying blue smoke issue.
It always smokes on startup if I rev the engine, on idle it generally doesn't smoke. When you drive it, it will sometimes smoke, sometimes not, or not so much. Twice, I was driving at 70MPH and it lagged like crazy and gave a fault about the HPFP, so I replaced the HPFP and the fuel metering valve on it. I also checked injectors and I noticed a couple were out of spec, so I replaced them too. I've replaced the fuel filter and fuel rail pressure sensor too (actually that one was replaced just before I bought it last year). I've kind of done everything I can fuel side of things but it still has random lagging but no fault codes appear, well once (only once) the MAF sensor fault appeared when it randomly cut out). The power will just be reduced right down and then it will come back to life again a minute later. I have checked the DPF soot levels and even done a forced regen just in case.
I guess both the lagging and the smoke are related.
I haven't touched the turbo or EGR valve. Could the issue be either of those? Ie.. blue smoke when revving/driving on and off, sometimes quite a bit, sometimes hardly any and lagging issue?
I have removed the pipe from the turbo and theres no play in the turbo shaft, have a invoice for it being replaced 2 years ago, although not to say it isn't damaged in another way or other. Couple of drops of oil near the shaft too, nothing major though.
