Decision time Confused

First time Poster here. I own an X5 30D(Mrs drives it) and I drive a 335D. I am 40 so would like more comfort and was moving away from the 335d into a SUV. I was thinking why not buy another X5(perhaps M50D?) for myself but worry the sameness of it would be less than ideal.
I have also been thinking of the range rover sport as I have heard this is super comfortable on a level higher than X5 and would like to try it as never had a JLR product though over past 10 years the BMW's I've owned have not given me any breakdowns etc.
This morning I left the house thinking yes Range rover sport but then once I hit the motorway I found myself instinctively driving as I would normally drive a 335d and this gave me happiness and I wondered if I am not an RRS kind of guy then it struck me could I live without the speed and torque.
So I am kind of torn I think I like fast cars. I Want comfort and I also want reliability and as I am a care worker a range rover from the stories I have heard JLR terrifies me.I also want it in budget so a V8 RRS for eg is out of the question as I do 15k miles/year.I also want a big SUV ie X3 or Q5 wont do. I also tend to keep the car after the PCP ends. I am confused.

If you want reliability you can score the Range Rover off your list. I know a Land Rover specialist. His advice to me was don't ever ever buy one. He said all the bits you can see and touch are high quality. The rest of it is shít.

Never been convinced as to the comfort of SUV's personally. You'd surely be better off with something like an SE spec 535D or even something bigger like a Mercedes S-Class for similar money?

Why get an SUV, a Volvo estate will be just as practical, just as big, cheaper VED, easier to maneuver etc etc

If you are 40 and want something more comfortable than a 335d, heaven help you. I have found the ride to be fine (on 18” wheels now, though), and you have three decades advantage! Pilates or yoga classes may be better!

A 5 series, SE spec not sport and not with huge wheels either; with your engine of choice would seem to be the way forward to me.

I recently bought a 2010 RRS, super low miles, one owner from new, loaded with options and it was on my ‘list’ of things I wanted to own at some point.

This happened to come along at the right time, I had every bill and invoice from new and whilst there were a couple of hefty bills post warranty period it wasn’t anything that Warranty Direct didn’t cover. The car had covered 40k from new, mostly in and around London with a few longer trips to see family.

It was incredible! The RR driving position is always takes about and having owned an X5 and ML the RR position and ride was far far superior. The newer RRS is incredible and if money was no object would be our do everything family car because it does just that.

They look smart, they handle all weathers/conditions, seat 4 in ultimate comfort, provide much better MPG than mine and can be had for reasonable money now.

BUT if you have a little petrolhead in you then you will miss elements of driving - my RRS did everything for me, lights, wipers, suspension, gears, cruise control, the list goes on even more for the new shape.

There is a house I drive by on my way to work everyday and on his drive he has a ‘17 RRS in Corris Grey and a white Golf Edition 40 which to my mind has all bases covered.

If I could buy another RRS AND have something for the PH fix then I most probably would.

Lots of scare stories out there about maintenance/faults/heavy bills but like anything if they are cared for then they should see you alright.

If you want more comfort why not go for a 640d Gran Coupe/CLS.
