After a bit of help with the use of a DA and how it should be used, I bought this

a couple of weeks ago and have used it on the bonnet of my Mustang, however I don't really seem to be doing anything other than making a noise, most of the swirl marks are still exactly where they were it does however feel much smoother.
For instance how long does it take to detail a bonnet, what sort of technique is best etc etc.

Which pad and product did you try? What speed do you run your DA? And how quickly / slowly are you moving it over the surface?
It took me a while to get the hang of it. My main lessons that worked for me were that i have to go slower than i originally thought, and at a higher setting, getting the right pad and product combo, keeping the pad clean. I also had a lot more success with Sonax EX04-06 than i did with poorboys ssr2.5.
Also ive only ever polished up one car but i understand different paints polish up differently depending on their hardness. A spare practise panel is recommended for beginners!
