Hello everyone
I am a new member and I want to buy my first Italian Classic car. I would like ideally to buy a 1750 GTV or 2000 or a Junior, I have already searched this forum for information these past few days and know that the body is the most important aspect when buying any classic cars.
Can anyone give me a guidance on what shall I be paying for a 1750 GTV in good rust free condition ( if there is such a thing). I don't want a trailer queen and want to use the car. Preferably I would like a RHD but I can live with a LHD.

It’s difficult to know what the Covid situation will do to car prices - including classics.
Having said that I think you’d probably have to pay £20k plus for a decent example.
I bought mine two years ago for a little over that. 1974 1600 Junior, RHD UK car with a 2000 engine fitted, along with uprated and lowered suspension, brakes and Alfaholics exhaust. Standard apart from that. I bought it to drive, and after a bit of ignition/carb tweaking and minor paintwork, it runs and looks fantastic. I doubt I will ever sell it!

First off, good choice! The market seems to fluctuate a fair bit but reasonable to say £20-35k for something fair. I've seen some in the last year at sub £20k which look ok on the face of it but you never know. Problem is at any one time there can be very little actually on the market. Worth enquiring with ClassicAlfa, Ian Ellis, VeloceSport etc and of course keeping an eye on eBay, CarandClassic etc.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Thanks. It’s a UK supplied car. I have most of the history. Originally registered in Newcastle. Fully restored about 8 years ago and not many miles since then. Completely solid underneath and just two tiny (3mm) rust bubbles under the paint on the boot and driver’s door.

edc - I have been watching a great guy called Jethro Bronner on YouTube who is restoring classic Alfas. You can see where the rust attacks different parts of the car.
Phil - Great car you have. Is it a UK car or South African car? Is there any rust creeping on yours?

Thanks. I had come across those but not watched properly yet. There is also this FB group Phil - Great car you have. Is it a UK car or South African car? Is there any rust creeping on yours?

Have you seen any cars yet? I've seen a couple of Le Mans blue ones up from £22k and there's an engine-swapped to 2000 in red for £24k.
First off, sign yourself up to the relevant FB group as that’s a really good source of info and potential purchases. There is a group specifically for the 105 GTV (‘Berties’).
As a Berlina owner which has many similarities, can I suggest you take a look at the US Berlina Register buying guide. It is very comprehensive and there is significant overlap in the problem areas between coupe and saloon models, so it’s a worthwhile read.
At the risk of stating the obvious, the condition of the shell both up top and below is everything. There are plenty of prettied up cars waiting to seduce a new owner hiding patchwork quilt floor pans and sills. Mechanical items are not irrelevant of course, but spares back up is superb and most of it very reasonably priced.
Good luck in your hunt!

AMGsee55 - Thankyou for your input. First thing for me is that I have to join Facebook as I am a bit old school.
Yes, I 'm sure there are a lot of freshly painted cars covering up rusty structural damage. I be more happy to find a solid car with average paintwork.
Has any members on here bought from Veloce Sport and their experiences?

I haven’t bought a car from them but I have just discovered them as a reasonably priced alternative for parts. Always prompt and easy. Yes, I 'm sure there are a lot of freshly painted cars covering up rusty structural damage. I be more happy to find a solid car with average paintwork.

At the pricier end of the market and mostly left hand drive by the looks of it. coetzeeh said:

Yes, the price reflects the quality restoration.Personally, I want a rhd although with a LHD, you can resell anywhere in Europe.
