Finally got out on the bike after more than 5 weeks. Wasn’t for long - extended lunch break from WFH - about 90 minutes of which at least 40 getting to and from a decent road. Still is was worthwhile. Felt a little bit rusty - not helped by fact that I’d only just bought he bike a week before lockdown so hadn’t ridden it much.

It was great!

Oooh ... it hadn't occurred to me that we can ride at level 3.

That's at least part of my weekend sorted smile

I’m not 100% sure whether it is allowable but I took the risk as I stayed within my region. In the unlikely event I come off I don’t think I will be putting particular pressure on the NZ health system given that there are only 6 people in hospital with Covid across the entire country.

There were loads of cars on the roads (I headed to Piha). Presumably going to the beach. Just in general there seems to be a lot of cars about but not sure where they are going as not that much has opened at level 3. They can’t all be going to drive through McDonalds and KFC.

Might want to make it clear that you are in NZ!

What are the restrictions there looking like now?

Dropped from level 4 to level 3. Most people still WFH and businesses can only operate if safely meaning shops can only sell online. Restaurants can do delivery or pick up. Or drive through. Some people were queuing at 4am yesterday for McDonalds to open at 5!

There was a lot more people around on the roads and on the streets. Felt much more like normal. Was a bit odd to see so many after the city being deserted for so long.

Damn, just checked. Not really frown

Heading for Piha would give me the beach excuse though. And I'm waaay too slow to end up in hospital.
