A small part of my business is repairing ECUs and sometimes we get sent items in from outside the EU. In the past the sender has declared the value to be low so import duty and VAT has not been a concern. However the other day I got sent some which had a high value declared on them. UPS asked me to fill out a "Simplified IPR form" which I duly did and the package arrived the next day with nothing to pay. I then received what looks like a print out from a computer system - on it there is a section for Deferred Revenue (at £392) and Immediate Revenue (at £0). I'm guessing that I need to do something when I send the items back otherwise I'll be liable for the £392. UPS didn't answer my email and phoning them is a lost cause. Can someone point me in the right direction on what I need to do? Thanks

no idea - but it might be worth chucking this in either the US and Japanese subsections as there will be, probably, quite a few people with experience of this

IPR = Inward Processing Relief.

See here - scroll down to 'Authorisation by Declaration'.

You have 6 months to turn the goods around.

And don't be surprised if the courier makes a hash of processing the consignment !
