8mm tape to digital

Does anyone know how I can convert a stack of 8mm camcorder tapes to digital?

From a google it seems desktop converters are no longer easily available and I don't have the camcorder anymore.

I wouldn't bother trying yourself, it's just too much trouble.

We used this guy, he was excellent and not too expensive. Of course, other providers are available.

Take it to your local high street photo/imaging shop (a Snappy Snaps or similar).

For example these guys list transfer of a variety of 8mm formats to DVD or MP4.
