Sonos with a turntable
Discussion
I have a beam, sub and 2 X ones in my living room, and would like a turntable in there as well. As the beam doesn't have an amp, I understand I need either either a Connect, Port or Play 5, and a turntable with a pre amp.
Would I be able to use one of the older Connect models (ZP90), which can be bought for £40 used, rather than spending £400+ on one of the newer models?

I have a Sonos Playbar and an optical switch, the turntable has a phono to optical adapter. This works for me.
From memory the beam uses either optical or HDMI but can’t confirm if this works.
Other option is a play5 As the old zp90 is technically a Sonos Connect be carful if it’s cheap you don’t get the Sonos Boost or old mesh unit. They look very similar but don’t have the connectors.

ZP90 go for a lot more than £40 unless you have a very special source , one thing to keep in mind is Sonos is about to do a big update , and if you add legacy product (like a zp90) you can’t take advantage of it . You can buy record players with built in preamps , I got one of Amazon, works fine and it’s plugged into a play5 .
