In negative equity I. E. car worth less than outstanding leasing...
So handing back would sort that out
Like car though buying however sounds like good money after bad
Someone will get them self a deal at auction
Any ideas is there a way round it?

So you have a car on Agility PCP which ends soon, and the value of the car is less than the final baloon payment - but you would like to buy the car at the end of the agreement?

There's not much you can do - MBFS won't accept less than the balloon payment from you.

How much difference do you think there is between the value and the balloon payment?

The car may or may not end up at auction - MBFS will sell returned cars direct to dealers and car supermarkets as well as disposing via auction. You may get lucky and be able to purchase the car if you can find it - but by the time the dealer has put a margin on it are you still going to be better off than paying the balloon payment? Depends on how far apart they are.

They won't do you a deal because you're not supposed to keep the car. The point of PCP deals is to get people on a cycle of changing their car for a new one every three years in order to keep the factory busy making cars.

If anything, you should be able to get some sort of loyalty bonus / extra discount to help make the new car attractive - if you keep it or and it back and walk away then the scheme has failed.

I get that but the system only works when you get part of your deposit back to cover the shortfall of price increase of the new model - if not all your deposit
By the dealer basically buying it from you...
The difference is around 3 k and the discount they offer us nowhere near that

I suppose that £3K could easily be the amount new cars have increased in price since your last car.

I know people who either get confused, or are told by salespeople, that they'll get their deposit back at the end of the deal. I inherited an admin girl who thought she could hand the car back at the end and they'd give her the deposit back!

It's just an initial payment and all it does is reduce the monthlies. The Optional Final Payment is also carefully calcuated to be as high as they can get away with as this also keeps the monthly low. In reality it's unusual for the car to be worth more.
