at the risk of doing this subject to death, who is Zymol John, as quoted in a recent thread, and where does he hang out?

and can anyone recommend and other zymol or swissol detailers (in the south/south west).

had a quote from Parc Ferme for my 968 cabriolet for exterior detailing:
£225 + vat for a full zymol exterior
£65 + vat for cleaning the hood
£70 + vat if they need to use a clay bar first.
since its the first time I'll be doing this, I'd imagine the clay bar would be obligatory.
So is this competitive? and is 4-5hours (quoted) realistic?

Just had mine Zymol'd today guy took all day, clay bar, HD cleanse, hand applied wax, very hard worker using all the right tecniques = £150

was not impressed by Zymol though (I supplied the product), I was told when buying the Zymol by an authorised Zymol detailer that the wax would clear the very fine scratches that were caused by me using a brush instead of a sponge if done proffesionaly.... it did'nt, so £70 down the drain the guy doing it kindly offered me a comparison with a butter wax that they use, so he set about ten minutes on the boot lid, and his finish was better than the Zymol achieved, damn it...

Car looks lovely but no better than I could have achieved with the Zymol once on once off stuff (cant remember name)

the company who did the work I have no problem recomending as they were prompt polite and efficient and are based in Reading, drop me a mail if you want their deatils.

I've used Swissol and Zymol for a period of about 6 years now.

I don't know why you are paying so much to have your cars cleaned with the stuff?

Buy it yourself, it lasts for years.

I don't know what the fuss is all about when it comes to Zymol. I've said it before and I'll say it again, P21s can't be beaten, beats the crap out of Zymol. It's far cheaper and easier to use aswell.

excellent tip Cuneus, many thanks! I appear to have won this item and the chap is only 30mins away so just about perfect. So now I will be able to make up my own mind and add to the (never-ending) debate...

I'm even closer and went for one of his "Buy it now" deals at £125. He's been in touch already and is coming out on Monday week so I'll post after that with the result

The use of a cheap toilet brush from Tesco is recommended for cleaning the inside of the wheels, so that you do not have to take them off. Of course depends on the design of the wheeels!

Simon Belli from Prestige Detailing came and Zymolled the car today. A full days work on the exterior and i have to say that I'm very impressed. He's not an official Zymol person yet, but he is in the process of applying for accreditation. He's worked with the product of years so he knows what he's doing. Contact details are 07862 236939, 01392 239355 simonbelli@aol.com. He is based in Exeter and will travel.

Got a quote from Parc Ferme last week - too dear for me. Ended up doing full clay bar, cleanse and Glasur wax myself on Thursday.
Clay bar was very easy to use and the car came up fantastically clean and nice and smooth.

Wish I had done this years ago. Thanks Dave, I am gobsmacked by the finish.

Pictures are here - I hope - I am not sure I do the posting correctly.

Well, I've just done 1 wing with Zymol and 1 with Meguiars NXT Wax. I defy anyone to see the difference.Apart form in my Wallet that is as the Zymol's 3 times as expensive. Turns out that Meguiars used to make Zymol !! Peter

Petros,

You are right about no difference. I have done similar tests using a high end carnuaba wax against Meguiars etc.

What you will find is that the finish is smoother on the wax side and will disperse water quicker. Longevity will depend on how many layers of wax applied.
