Hey guys,

So basically I was thinking about how EGR effects pertrol cars speaking about gunge build up in the engine because of it. Diesel cars has this problem and often people just get rid of it. What about petrol engines ? Is EGR a problem for them or is it something you can keep without having same problems as diesel engines do ?

Thanks

My approach is to delete it if possible, it's basically just a system that recycles crap through your engine. No thanks! It's gone from my Evo, and has been for a long time.

Deleting EGR usually throws up a fault code which turns he engine light on no problem except it’s an MOT failure

The PCM operates the EGR valve and looks at the oxygen sensor readings to make sure it's working. As it's emissions related many cars go into limp mode if it's not working properly, meaning the maximum RPM's and power are reduced so you can 'limp' to a garage to have it fixed.
