Looking for a case as part of a build ryzen based using air cooling.

Budget 100 +- or less no real need for 3.5 drives nice decent airflow so likely to be just mesh front panel

So thinking phanteks p300a no reviews p400a gamers nexus really like it but metals a bit thin.

Fractal design meshify c

Be quiet base 500dx

Any thoughts or other ideas?

I have a phanteks (enthoo I think?) and it is a good solid case and well layed out with nice cable management.
I don't know how this compares to the eclipse but a couple of things I don't like so much:

1) the reset switch is right next to the headset socket and it is too easy to press when inserting the headset jack. That does not end well....
I really must get around to disconnecting it!

2) it has a little flap over the usb (etc) sockets. This means you cannot actually see them when the case is on the floor beside you.

3) The power switch/led defaults to a pulsing pattern which I find distracting. I really need to find out change this but it is not really a biggy as most of the time I cannot see it under the desk.

All pretty minor things and it is still the best case I have owned so would not hesitate to recommend it. That said, the corsair I have for my old pc also did the job just fine and was half the price. But the phanteks is definitely a step up.

No idea but won't be getting too hot in there with no 3.5 HDDs

If you want something quiet then the fractal design refine series is a good option.

I did a Ryzen build a few months ago (3600, GTX1080, Tomohawk Max B450) I went with this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sahara-P35-Tempered-Gamin...

It seems to go on offer quite a lot, got it for £49.99. Delighted with it, 4 fans come with it, tempered glass front and side (although tinted quite dark), would definitely recommend it if you can wait and get it on offer.

It's worth keeping an eye on hot uk deals as well:

I did a new build last year and stuck with my 6 year old Bit Fenix case. They don't do my particular one anymore, though they do sell others that are very similar. They're dirt cheap, well made (IMO), and have more than enough room for anything most people should want to put in a case.

Mine is still spot on and fits a GTX 1080 with no problems. It's not fancy, but it does the job well.

I've built a few PCs over the years and I tend to gravitate to Thermaltake or CoolerMaster cases just for build quality and easy of working.

For an air cooled case, you want one that has provision for a few extra 120mm case fans at the front or top, maybe one over the CPU but I'd still call that optional if you're not overclocking.

Good choices, I'd go with the Meshify C personally.

Temperature graph for a few cases 500DX not on there though. From - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaKMTdWd_sI

Somebody popped up a low spec gaming PC for me which I built a month or so ago, recommended the Thermaltake case. I wouldn't. The PSU sits on the bottom and there's a full length box section behind it for the power cabling which makes getting the fiddly cables and the USB cables onto the mobo a complete pain in the arse.

to make things easy I am a fan of the biggest case possible.
This is a full size ATX motherboard in my case. PSU is under the bottom cover.

No problem with cable routing and that is with the drive bays (all 11 of them....) still fitted wink

Case is this one.....

The best cases these days for air cooling don't use drive bays at the front as they block air coming in, also shorter cases do work better, with less open space between front intake fans and the components, blowing directly onto the GPU and the board.

I just swapped my son's PC in to an in win Alicie https://www.in-win.com/en/gaming-chassis/alice/

Oddball for sure, but huge.

Drawbacks are the lack of drive bays, no IO on the front panel (or front panel for that matter) and you need to source your own fans (up to 4).

We ended up with a 10degC drop in GPU temps from his previous case (Fractel IIRC).

I built mine 18 months or so ago in a Corsair 200R case. Probably not to everyone's taste but I wanted a plain looking box to go under my desk rather than a fancy design covered in flashing lights. Loads of space inside and runs really cool. The extra few quid spent on a large air CPU cooler was well worth it IMO.

Doesn't include dust filters though like some of he more expensive cases.

Plastic storage box! Kinda funky tho

Just watched some vids it gets a bit panned!

It does. One vid criticises the dust filtering which I don't think is such an issue in our house and besides, it is dead easy to whip the cover off and clean which is contrary to another criticism on a vid which states it is really difficult to fit. It really isn't, 30secs.

For the £68 I paid, I'm not complaining.

When looking for a new case, I found most of the air cooled focussed cases to be a bit meh. the In Win 301c/303 looked good as they have bottom mounted fans pointing directly at the graphics card.

I don't think it is too bad. When gaming and the Graphics card fans kick in, sure you can hear it, but then you put the headset on and you cant. The standard system fan profile is quiet.
