Anyone else really, really bored at work....
Discussion
I am a coach build electrician (AC+DC), and usually enjoy my job. However my company decided to shut down a few weeks ago and i was given the option of being loaned to a competitor rather than being furloughed which i took to keep my busy.....
However, after 3 weeks, i am utterly bored. I am spending most of the time looking for jobs to do, whilst having to make said jobs last as long as i can, or walk around the workshop pretending to be busy....
Its rather depressing.
Im starting to wish i had taken furlough, as i could at least spend all day w
king.....
I guess on the plus side, im being paid £40K to do f
k all, when i could be jobless.
Anyone else really bored at the moment?

I'm an Engineer and am used to building stuff and meeting people which we can't do at the moment. Struggling a little bit to keep busy but what worries me more is once back to normal everyone is going to want their stuff built straight away meaning we are going to be rushed off our feet! However, after 3 weeks, i am utterly bored. This is why as an engineer, I struggled working in an office.
These environments just seem to be full of people who genuinely seem to think they're busy and overworked, but who actually do very little and work so inefficiently that every task seems like the mountain to be climbed.
Fast forward and now in slightly different situation, repair bench engineer, I get bored because I can't just get on with the job, I have to keep stopping and waiting for other people. I work for 10 minutes, wait 30 minutes for my parts to get picked in stores, work for 10 minutes, wait for something else. I've got a boss who thinks I should know what parts I need before I start work, based on the idiotic fault descriptions I get given (like a commercial oven controller "not cooking sausages" or "made a strange noise" or "leaking from bottom"), so not only does that get boring, but my stress levels during that down time are through the roof.
