Hi,

Looking at up to 25k. Lease car sat on the drive and going soon.
Up to 3yr used, back end of warranty.
Do 300 motorway miles in 2 trips p/wk.
Relatively fuel efficient.
Was looking at old shape a7, 6 series gt, etc..l type cars. Have 3 kids...

Looking for something to keep long term.

Any input would be much appreciated

There's also the VW Arteon for the "budget" option. Is the A5 or 4 series too small? Also assuming you're after the 'sportback' set up so does that rule out estate cars?

I'm also looking with similar budget and decided on a 440i Gran Coupe, big boot, looks nice and plenty of performance. Had enough of Diesels.

I have an A7 its a quattro black edition. One of the besf cars i have had. Comfort cruising and good pick up with 272bhp.

I’m definitely, no estate, 6 series gc no (as can nearly reach 6 series gt), cls just don’t like.
Tempted by XJ, I’ve had an a7 before but not specc’d to black edition so tempted by that and the shape is pretty ageless.

I’ve currently got an A5 with the older 245 BHP engine and am looking at getting a facelift A7,probably towards the end of the year.
I’ve been very impressed with the A5 overall but just love the look of the 7 plus they’re such a comfortable long range cruiser, look great and are Euro 6.
I’d think the 272 BHP variant is quite adequate?, not sure it would be worth paying a premium for the bi TDI.

That is a whole lot of car for that money - it's amazing.

Xj or this........... Not really much to decide.

50k depreciation in 3 years though...... Ouch! Although to be fair, if you buy a brand spanker Merc S Class you probably don't need to worry about such trivial things!

I meant to say that even though the s class is absolutely the most logical, best value, etc... buy. I just think I’m a bit too young to own one!

You can't drive your own S class though.. so you have to factor in £30k a year for a chauffeur

Yep; XJ is in the same boat of S Class; re I’ve decide I’m too “young”...
And agreed I can’t have a car where the chauffeur costs more than the car!

I’m seeing 6 series GT nearing 25k mark, in very general terms what % discount is existing currently (cash)?

I ran a 2017 A6 Avant Black Edition for a couple of years as a company car. Very nice but will say the interior felt quite outdated due to being a design from 2010 (identical to the Gen1 A7 I believe).

Improved with the technology + sound packages but still off the pace compared to a number of alternatives. I'd also highly recommend finding one with the Matrix LED headlights if possible, they're brilliant.

I have to say that the 6 GT looks just as much as an old man car as the XJ/S class the 6 GC much less so

Be careful with the 50k depreciation piece. S Class as new cars sell for nowhere near list price. The depreciation is still savage but the value at 3 year old isn’t necessarily what you may think it is.

Same money for delivery mileage 5ers and E class. Great value.
