Refurbed Aeron Classic or get a new Mirra 2 chair?
Discussion
Hi,
I wanted to spend about £250 on a new office chair and ever, the budget has spiralled...
I’m looking at 2 options
First, a refurbished Classic Aeron. New seat base, new lumber, new castors and new armrests. My guess is that the refurbished parts won’t be genuine but are new. £450 ish
Secondly, a new Mirra 2 with all the options including lumber, armrests and a butterfly back. £700
I’d like to save the £250 difference but is a Herman Miller Aeron fitted with refurbed parts really a HM?
Thoughts welcome.

The Mirra is the most comfortable chair I’ve ever used but I’d ensure you buy from an authorised dealer as the seat pan will rip in time with heavy use. I’m on my third seat pan, they can’t be repaired and replacements seat pans can only be bought from Herman Miller at around £300 (if not covered under warranty).
I bought a secondhand Aeron years ago. Don’t think there’s much of a trade in 3rd party parts, the refurbishers tend to buy in bulk from office clearances and strip some to fix the others.
Parts easy to get (I just broke the lumbar support and got a brand new one from studiomodern for £48) but they generally last really well.
