Curious if anyone on here has a 997 with the factory aero kit, something you don't see very often and seems to divide opinion. Experience with their 997, or any photos you might have of it. Seen a couple on this forum a few years back but nothing since!

Cheers

Awesome - Just general thoughts after owning and what premium they command over a normal 997? On the lookout for one but rarely come up at a sensible price.
Any pics of it?

Just the same as a normal one but with mine being lowered it does catch the splitter on slopes but not driving and not if standard height. Do miss the moving rear spoiler though. Rear lid is lighter.

Paid about £2k premium at the time but wanted the kit and Guards Red so happy with the deal. Will try and get some pics up.

Might sell mine this summer.

Yeah I’ve heard they have to be repainted every year, and people lower them with the kit on. Yeah that seems a more reasonable price premium for the kit. What model is yours 2s or 4s?
Awesome look forward to seeing them.

It is a 2S, 56 plate, manual. Had it 3 years but it is my third, totals 7 years or more now. May be getting a bit bored!

2s and manual, good combo. Oh really what've you got in mind next - something else Porsche?
Will be a first 997 for me if I do find the right one. Have had a go in an auto one and was rubbish.

It does look great, those wheels are one of my favourites on it. But over 40k is ridiculous for a 4S with a kit on it imo.

Cheers for the link, saw that one. Not my cup of tea with the few bits that have been done with it. 7k over a regular 2S with the same mileage I’d rather get a normal one for that.

While I'm not a fan of aero kits at all, they somehow do look better on a 996.
On the 997, the aero kit looks much more stuck on, while on the 996 it was much better integrated in the original design.

If you want some wing/spoiler, you might want to consider a ducktail?
Very retro cool

I'd be looking to find the "right" car with a Hartech built engine and lots of recent service/restoration bills, rather than looking for a car with the aerokit fitted.

The aerokit front bumper is available from Design 911 :

and I'm with you on the ducktail over the GT3 rear spoiler, far more subtle and the ducktail looks pleasantly retro on a Gen 1 997 with an aerokit front bumper :

The Ducktail does look cool I must admit, how much is that?
Front Aero bumper completely changes the cars look I think, it looks brill. Seen those for sale along with the spoiler but that’s not OEM.

The Hartech engine is that just a rebuild? What’s the benefits over a stock one?

Good question, can't think of anything suitable which is why I have done nothing about it yet.

The Tiptronic autos are poor in my view but the later ones with PDK are very good. Think the latter only came on the 997.2 and later though.

I had 2;
first was a guards red car, but unfortunately a meeting with armco in the rain wrote it off.
Second one (replacement for the first !) was bought new from insurance payout. Was white - a very nice car.
Sold it for a guards red 996 GT3 Clubsport .

That’s unfortunate! The red works well with the kit but haven’t seen one in white before any photos?
996 GT3 that’s cool. Must have been totally different from the 997 to drive.

Couldn’t stretch to the gen2 unfortunately, really like the look of the gen1 really and its rear lights.

The look of just the Carrera 996 with the aero is growing on me also they look wicked. What are the 996s like to drive?

The rear of the 997.1 looks indeed much better and more classic/retro than the 997.2, imho.
The CSR retro I posted above is infact a 997.2 car with the rear light having been back dated to fit the ethos of the car better.

996 are very nice to drive. With modern suspension even more so. Just have a read at some old threads on here.
Not few people on here praise them to be the last truly analogue 911. Most of them prefer the early 3.4 996 pre e-throttle.
The early 3.4 996 thread is a great source of info and many hour of enjoyable reaing!
