Wondered what your experiences have been please, things like how many miles driven since the remap, reliability and whether you have had any warranty work done on your car since modifying?

Overall was it a good idea?

Thanks

I’ve a 991.2 carrera and would have had this by now, were it not for the lockdown. I have an Akrapovic exhaust system sat in my garage waiting to go.

There’s no hope of having a Porsche warranty beyond the 3 year manufacturers one if you start modifying, so you can forget that. I’m just at that point and will take my chances without one. If I was driving a turbo S, then I’d definitely carry on with the warranty, but the risk:reward ratio works better on the base car.

I’d considered upgrading to a 992S when the manual gearbox became available, but the 50K price to change now seems to much for the marginal increase in driving pleasure, plus I have a certain sentimental attachment to my car now. I’ll modify for 5K and use the change to build a Caterham with my 2 boys. The plan for the 991 would be always go for a higher quality when things need doing, e.g. better clutch, girodisc brakes, suspension. I might keep one eye on eBay for some folding bucket seats, but then again the standard ones just fit my back and shoulders so perfectly.
