anyone have any experience of these guys? Lockdown has me playing with their configurator...

https://www.bamfordwatchdepartment.com/

What are the values looking like on the used market - are they roughly in-line with the standard editions, or lower... are they seen to be decent quality customs etc?

Do nothing for me, tbh. Why pay so much over the odds for a few apparently cosmetic changes?

£7k for a run of the mill TAG?

A nice idea, being able to customise a watch. But the price is ridiculous.

If the manufacturer could do this for a better price I would certainly buy in.

I know LVMH authorise this with them.

Doesn't appeal to me however I really like the look of undone watches, which are a lot more customisable

No experience, but some of the Monaco colourways they put on Instagram look great to me.

Pricey though, yes.

I'd say...used values are broadly in-line with 'standard' watches. I.e. you don't get your money back on the customisation cost.

This 116520 Custom Daytona isn't priced much differently to a standard 116520.

I had a 116520 customised for a mate, sourced parts and had the dial and hands repainted. It's not a Bamford and not to everyone's taste, but my mate absolutely loves it.

It won't be worth any more than a regular 116520, but as he doesn't want to sell...its not really a problem!

Pretty sure them being customised for individuals would devalue them (if that's important to you) which is the same for most other customised products as you're just shrinking the re-sale market for it.

It's part of the JCB family (believe it's the missus and the son). They do interior design, men's fragrances etc etc.....basically a ridiculous luxury brand to keep the wife happy and give them something to talk about with their friends at dinner parties.

I’ve been racking my brain as to why the surname Bamford was so familiar - he is the ‘face’ of the Lidl wine selection here in Germany, Richard Bamford.

Anyway, as you were.

If you want your watch as an investment , i'd stay away.

He went to Ampleforth, year above me. Not very good academically but then he didn't really need to be did he...

I’m be got the Bamford x G-Shock collaboration watch does that count?

I doubt it has much value although when they were first released they were selling double the RRP but quickly dropped back. I don’t really care because it’s my daily work watch I like it.

I thought Seiko were the go-to for customised watches.
