Why the excitement?

These appear to be ordinary September 2020 registration marks.
What have I missed?

I’ve just got it . Aston ( 7 is a t ) xx .
Probably candidates for future “badly spaced number plate “ thread

'7 is a t'.
confused

Surely 7 is still seven, even after paying £1,000.

A friend bought xx11 xxx.
He explained to me that the first letter is the initial of his first name.
The second letter is the initial of his wife's first name.
The next two numbers apparently mean nothing at all.
The last three letters are the first three letters of his surname.

He now regrets paying £250 for such nonsense.
I think his car is year 2017, but it now looks like a 2011 car !
World gone crazy.

I agree its bonkers - but fools and their money - I bet you will see that and AS70N UK up for sale for an obscene amount of money somewhere soon.

Just browse thru some of the bonkers pricing on newreg and the such like... I remember I saw VO14NTE on a Vanquish Zagato Volante in Astons showroom in London a few years back.

Probably a £999 plate when new?

Imo there is nothing worse than putting a cheap ‘fudged’ private plate on a nice/prestige car. Its better to not bother at all.

I was tempted by the above scenario for me , but they wanted £1300 for my combination so didn’t bother , about a year later saw the exact same plate on a car going up the A1M .

My immediate thought was how crap it looked and I’d dodged a bullet by not buying it , 8 years on and I haven’t changed my mind.

The bit I don’t like is trying to make it look something it isn’t . Quite obviously a 7 isn’t a T.
Anyone that thinks otherwise may or may not be a bit of a 7i7

I have a real dislike for illegally spaced trying to look like something else plates.
Bought or rather wifey did for my birthday a V12 and initials plate for £250 which seems like good value and fun.

Yep.

I remember a programme on TV a while back comparing two blokes called Nigel. One with a Lambo reg. N1GEL and another with an old Merc N2GEL. Quite amusing.

I can understand that the OP spotted a profit possibility, but maybe did not have any intention to use that registration mark personally.

I am fortunate to have a selection of very old dateless plates, obtained when values were much lower, but if I wanted a good looking registration mark now, I would look for ABC 123 (3 letters & 3 numbers). There are a large quantity to choose from and they are the lowest cost dateless plates.

A 3 & 3 registration was good enough for Aston Martin at Le Mans.

Not at all , it’s certainly naff , but the 007 type plates on Aston Martins are definitely worse imho.

I really don’t know how someone with a good taste in cars can spoil the look by putting a 007 type plate on it.

Your car , your choice I suppose.

Gosh, that one is just perfect, for Mr & Mrs Albert and Linda Pneumonia.

Their neighbours might be impressed (if they can crack the code).

COV 1D not registered to anyone as far as I can see - not surprising really (although you'd probably not suffer from anyone parking too close at the supermarket)
