The club has a number of places available for this event at Croft on Monday 25th July. Corft is a very challenging circuit with reasonable run off (compared to Cadwell anyway) with the tightest corner on any UK circuit AFAIK. It's got great facilities too, the pits usually open for use by those arriving the night before or early on the day.

Better Driving Days are events organised by the club which normally enable the members to take their cars on track in a low risk environment where overtaking is consensual and done on the left along straights. Rules are reasonably policed, so if someone is 'blocking' a quicker car, then the appropriate action is taken. Similarly, overtaking on the brakes on turn in to an apex is not acceptable and again, action is taken.

This day is an open pit lane, so you can take your car on track whenever you choose. If you think it's quiet and want to go quick, then you can. If it's a little too busy and too many cars for your liking, you can dive in and go out when it's quieter. The number of places sold means the track is never 'busy'.

Novices are given stickers to clearly identify themselves, so there are no excuses if someone makes a mistake in front of you etc..

There are also lots of regulars and instructors always willing to give passenger rides or provide some advice if you require it.

I did 3 better driving days last year, Cadwell, Croft and Donnington Park and thoroughly enjoyed all. No drama's, no red mist, just very good fun in a safer environment than a 'normal track day' (done loads on my bike BTW), where my wife was happy to drive too!

The club need to cover it's costs for this event and is willing to provide places to none club members at the same cost as members.

As an enthusiastic PH'er (if anyone wants to read about my early morning jaunts, look for "Woldz Wazz" in the Yorkshire forum) I would love to see some of you guys & gals on track with us.

Cost is £135 - a bargain for an open pit event.

Thanks for that Stu,

Its actually a fiver more than you said... but still a bargain at £140!

Don't forget that this is open pit and the total entry is capped at around 45.. just so we break even on the circuit hire.. this gives us way more track space than you would find on a normal trackday at Croft.

..figure in, expert tuition FOC and an event organised by the daddies of trackdays and £140 starts to look cheap.

..its also a club event in the true style.. raffle tickets.. lunch in the pub.. prizes and trophies.. it really is too good to miss.

I wouldnt normally post up here but I dropped a clanger with the booking and had to re-schedule for later in the month and have lost a lot of my regulars to their summer holidays.

Thanks for reading,
Nick

Looks like the outside lane of all motorways heading towards Croft will be full that day then then.

p.s. what exactly is it about 3 series & the outside lane ? Is it in the manual that that's the only lane they're supposed to use ?

Enough plugging and enough stereotyping for one evening.
