To many issues on a 12 plate?

Hi all,

I'm planning to buy a Mazda2 and i came across some strange issues when i run hpi check. I will try the explain the best i can.
Car has been registered in 2012, and from 2015 had its first owner under a private registration plate and because of that there is no MOT and mileage history. Has anyone came across with any of this issues? Owner after 3 years since first registration? What about MOT history?
To mention the private plate that was on the car i'm planning to buy ,its on a different car now. Original number plate came back on car in mid Feb this year.
My second concern is, if the car has been on a private plate and has been involved in a accident that means it should show the category on the original plate? Or remained on private plate. I did had a look and i know there is no way to check a private plate history.At the moment hpi shows no category assigned to the car, no write off , etc. Hpi all clear apart from the mot history but my concern is that in a few months time may update and end up with a category (s,n, etc) on my car.
I really like the car, it comes from a dealer , low mileage and below market price by a £800.
I would really appreciate if you help me with any of the issues.

You should be able to get the MOT history on the private plate, does it have service history.

I have not checked yet to see if there is any service history. I assume there is, have not physically checked the car yet. I have an appointment for tomorrow and i don't know if is worth going or not.

The MOT History and total loss history (if any) do not separate if a private plate is put on the car. If you are HPI’ing the car under its current registration then it will show any events that were recorded whilst it had a private plate I.e, if it’s clear then you are fine.
Similarly, the MOT history checker should show the complete history for the vehicle under whichever registration number is currently assigned to the car.

Mazdas have a digital service history so you could make your own enquiries with a dealer as to the content of this however if a smaller business has completed work (Halfords etc are able to update the Mazda Digital Service History) or it has been self-serviced it obviously won’t be recorded.

When I removed a private plate from a car I owned in 2019, the MoT history didn't go with it, like it should.

I contacted DVLA at the time, they referred me to DVSA. Rightly so I thought, but the contact at DVSA told me that someone at DVLA hadn't 'carried it out correctly.' This to and fro went on for days until I stated an official complaint and somebody sorted it out.

I wanted to advertise the car for sale and anybody doing an online MoT history check would have got no results!

MoT history should be listed under whatever the registration number of the car now is. It does take a few days after a plate transfer, even if it is done properly.

Thank you all for replaying , i decided not to go ahead and buy it. I'm a bit scared because no mot history can be retrieved at the moment (dvsa office closed for the last couple of months or more i been told by dvla) and if the car had an accident on that private plate and the private plate being changed at the end of feb i assume dvsa had not transferred all information because of covid 19 lockdown. This is just my assumption. I know hpi should show on any of the plates but with everything that happens now i don't wanna take any risks. I have read other posts and people said they had hpi updates after months because of the private plates and end up with write offs. I will give an update after all this is going to see if hpi report changes.
Just out of curiosity , are there other people that had problems with hpi updates after buying a car?
