Fun weekend/track car for under 9k

Ok so i appoligise in advance for being a picky bugger here.. i've been toying with a lot of ideas and just after some different suggestions.
Under 9k, happy to spend 1k happy to spend 9k.
I have a daily that does the job fine i want something i can take into work once a week or so and enjoy at weekends, maybe take on track days also.
While id love to take it on track i dont want a dedicated track car, it needs to be useable on the road sensibly.
I do 99% of work on my cars myself, keep them maintained and have no issue working on them.
I've considered many options so far, these are my top options.
1. Mk1 Mx5 - Turbo or NA, Love Mx5's had a few before and i just generally enjoy convertibles, a friend has a Mk1 Mx5 Turbo and its insane amounts of fun. Im not against an NA one that i could get to a stage where i want it and turbo it later down the line, again also not against buying a nicely specced turbo one. This by far is leading currently and seems to tick every box.
2. R33 Skyline GTST, yeah the ugly skyline.. but its a skyline and the 32 and 34 are crazy money now.. if im going to ever one and experience one its going to be the 33, i think i could generally enjoy one for a year or two and still profit? Few about at 8/9k in good condition.
3. Boxster, seem to be able to get a fairly nice boxster for around the 6/7k mark noiwdays, i've heard they are actually very reliable and fun to drive? What are they like to work on yourself if needed? Bearing issue i asume just find one thats had the upgrade done?
4. Evo 5/6, i think in reality im dreaming here, seen a few 5's hovering around the 10k mark but would absoloutely love one, dream cars but i think that ship has sailed for me price wise! They wont be going down again.
I'm open to any offer suggestions, anything i havent thought of etc, ill be honest as capable as they are a lot of the German stuff BMW Merc etc doesnt overly interest me, ive had a few E46's and couldnt fault them but not interrested in them currently.
Previously owned an Alfa GT V6 and currently own a GTV Spider that im now selling and as great as the Alfas were i think my time with Alfas is done!

From that list I would go for the Skyline. For the record I don't find the R33 any uglier than the R32 or R34. None of them are particularly beautiful cars. I don't think this is the point with them. So I would get a R33 from that list.Under 9k, happy to spend 1k happy to spend 9k.

For me, on that list the Boxster, nothing else will provide the driving experience that offers. Also I'd personally discount the R33 GTS, especially if you plan to take it on track, any non GTR Skyline is just basically a generic saloon car.
What about Civic Type R? S2000? Megane 225? Just about get a semi decent E46 M3 for top budget, with 9k the world is basically your oyster for fun/practical cars

I currently have a 986 S and a dedicated MX5 NB track car.
The 986 is a great weekend car. It's comfy, feels special, looks amazing, sounds gorgeous, etc. I'm not sure i'd want to track mine TBH. The steering is quite slow and the (relatively) big, thin wheel makes it feel less "pointy". The gearchange is pretty good, but it doesn't like being rushed. And in the back of my head i'd hate the thought of having even a small off on track. It's too nice for that!
The MX5 is very stripped out. Coilovers, race seat, race harness, roll over bar and silly exhaust and a small suede wheel. It's also on track oriented NS2R tyres. It's absolutely amazing on track despite lack of power. But it's loud, uncomfortable and TBH just plain annoying on the road. I would love to supercharge it as it would genuinely be one of the quickest things on any given trackday with more power. It's already happy chasing exiges through the twisties but loses out on the straights.
If i had to pick one of them to do everything i'd probably go for a really tidy and well sorted MX5 . I think out of the box they're better track cars than boxsters, but just need more power.
I think to make a boxster good on track you'd have to do lots to make it reliable such as baffled sump, oil coller, etc. Plus tyre and brake costs are much higher than an MX5.
