Is this lady repairing a wire wheel?

It's a bit sad that a mechanic being a woman is comment worthy, but things change slowly.
My dad had to argue with his boss to hire the first two women graduate engineers in BL. That was in the 1970s. I hope that things have improved since then. In my job, it's roughly a 50- 50 male female split in entry level recruitment these days, but glass ceilings persist.

A major national housebuilder that I worked for still had an (unwritten, obviously) policy of not employing female design/technical staff as late as 2007. My Infrastructure Engineer was the first one we employed, after the Group Design Manager responsible for the policy was finally removed.Breadvan72 said:

I work for a passenger transport company which maintains a fleet of circa 6000 buses. It's always reassuring when I'm in the workshop and there are female technicians walking round with prop shafts the size of a small tree. Plenty of them too.My dad had to argue with his boss to hire the first two women graduate engineers in BL. That was in the 1970s. I hope that things have improved since then.
