Georgia Jogger Ahmaud Arbery
Discussion
I've searched for the guy's name and it hasn't shown up, so:
MSN suggested this as a news story this morning. It seems that Ahmaud Arbery was out for a run when he was mistaken for a man seen housebreaking a few nights before. Two men took their guns, got in their pickup and chased the jogger down. An argument broke out and the jogger ended up dead.
Can anyone better informed than me tell us how this doesn't count as murder?
Independant
Police say "no further action."
Police report.

America is a racist s
thole. Imagine it the other way around - a couple of black guys chase a white jogger, force him into a fight, shoot him dead and then claim “self- defense”. Walk free without even being charged?
And I’m no bleeding heart liberal. I do believe that you should be able to defend your life or your family’s life with deadly force but that doesn’t apply if you start a fight - especially if you are armed and they are not.

And the police and the DA already had that video in February.
The DA's appraisal of the incident belongs in the Guinness of mental gymnastics:

I read about this earlier today... jogging while black and murder, or doing anything else in America, appears to be just fine if carried out by white fold. I don’t see myself visiting the place again anytime soon. There is so much wrong over there. The DA's appraisal of the incident belongs in the Guinness of mental gymnastics:

Incredible, no one even arrested.
As an outsider I thought that odd too, then I saw the news report''According to a letter obtained by the Times, the prosecutor in Brunswick argued there was not probable cause to arrest the McMichaels because they were legally carrying firearms, had a right to pursue a burglary suspect and use deadly force to protect themselves.''
File closed. Next!

If true, that is staggering. "Deadly force to protect themselves" from a guy running away? That's a, ummm, racy argument by the prosecutor.''According to a letter obtained by the Times, the prosecutor in Brunswick argued there was not probable cause to arrest the McMichaels because they were legally carrying firearms, had a right to pursue a burglary suspect and use deadly force to protect themselves.''

Some 40 years ago, a deaf mute was collecting for a charity, going door to door. One was opened by a young man. He demanded to know why the chap had come to the door, and the lad reached into his top pocket, presumably for the card he kept there. The householder shot him. No real investigation. No arrest. The organiser was admonished.
Crazy, mixed up country.
When I was in a firearms unit, we used to get reports of armed police action from around the world. One stays in the mind. It was a 6-hour siege of a warehouse. A number of police were shot, a couple being critical at the time of the report. Investigators found an unarmed person dead on premises, shot by a police calibre weapon, just like every shot police officer was. No weapon found on the guy.

Jogging while not-white, serious offence clearly as the remedy was summary execution.
Quite.A cynic would say that stoking racial tensions is a very useful tool to keep the plebs fighting amongst themselves. Heaven forbid they realise they've far more in common with each other than the people who call the shots.

Why do I feel that if non-whites were to demonstrate their love for the second amendment the reaction would be somewhat different.

Stuff like this?
Three guesses the ethnicity of the people he's talking about, and the first two don't count. I saw this earlier today and I still can't believe he posted it. How f
ked up does your system have to be that you'd write this and think this is fine, I can say this?!?! Let alone that it happened to begin with!amusingduck said:

The USA is a 2nd world country in many aspects, apartheid still exists in the justice system, trias politica did not come to fruition, the infrastructure, education and healthcare systems are all underfunded and/or badly organized, the political lobby culture is basically legalized corruption, the presidential system is rotten etc.

Personally I think a better way to judge a country is not to look at how it treats its richest citizens but how it treats the poorest.

Quite a leap to go from random black guy jogging to burglary suspect fleeing pursuit/assailant with murderous intent. Sporty.''According to a letter obtained by the Times, the prosecutor in Brunswick argued there was not probable cause to arrest the McMichaels because they were legally carrying firearms, had a right to pursue a burglary suspect and use deadly force to protect themselves.''
