Hi need some help, I have a delivery coming into Felixstowe next week from China ( I know), can I just turn up to collect the crate or do I need to go through an agent, I have all the documents from the sending company?.

Thanks in advance.

Not definative, I have only done it once - a container of aircraft parts from the US. I did use a freight forwarding agent to get the container cleared through customs as I was told it would be worth the reduced hassle.

A call to the port authority office would put you straight though.

Depending on what incoterms you agreed with your supplier, you will likely need a freight forwarder/customs broker to arrange the customs clearance and pay the port handling and arrival charges. Once it has been cleared for release and all charges paid they can advise you on the location to collect the crate (assuming it’s not a full container) or arrange delivery.
