SKY Q Box Problem....
Discussion
If anyone could help would be greatly appreciated
Main Sky Q box in living room yesterday started having problems and wouldn't turn on. Unplugged left for several minutes and still wouldn't turn on after plugging it back in.
Decided to unplug it and leave it over night.
Remembered to go back to it about 3pm today, plugged it in, Amber light goes on and get the blue screen telling you to push 'Home' button when screen goes black. Do this Sky box decides to think about it and then nothing. Still Amber light and won't turn on.
Unplug again leave it for 5 minutes, plug it back in and now decides to work, brilliant I think! Put back into standby until tonight.
Go to use the Sky Q box and yep you guessed it, won't turn on......wierd thing is that the mini box upstairs is more than happily working away on its own and doesn't have a problem lol I was of the assumption that the mini box relied on the mainbox for recordings etc?
Any one got any ideas of how to sort this is out as have been on the various forums etc and nothing's really working and I don't fancy watching all my programs in the bedroom where the mini box is lol

Unless the main box is working properly you shouldn't be able to access recordings, as that's where they're stored. Interestingly though, I did notice one of our Mini boxes seemed up and running incredibly quickly when I restarted our main box the other day.
Unplugging the main box will often sort out problems, but the fact you've done this a couple of times and are still having issues makes me wonder if it could be something more serious. The older Q boxes had an inbuilt power supply and I understand lots are starting to fail. Any hard drive based recorder is going to have a limited life so that could be on its way out.
Sounds like you might need a call to Sky where they talk you through the things you've already done before agreeing to send an engineer.
